Overheard From the Backseat

17 May

Ayla and Evren were playing with a Magna Doodle and Evren was demanding that Ayla draw and write certain things. They were both getting along great.

Evren: “Write a number 1. And a number 2. And a number 3. And a number 4. And a number 5. And a number 6. OH, Write a G! Ayla, can you write E-V-R-E-N?”

Jenn: (I’m practically screaming) “EVREN!! Where did you learn that?!”

To my knowledge no one has taught him that. Ayla was over-qualified for Kindergarten and as a result, didn’t care for it one bit. So, I’m taking a different approach with Evren but the learning continues, in spite of me.

Evren: “I taught myself!”

A few minutes later…

Ayla: “MOM!!! Evren’s name spelled backwards is NERVE!!”

I never realized that.

Now you can imagine my face when Finn suddenly started counting up to ten before he was 3.

Isn’t it amazing how they gain knowledge without our consent?
