Now I really *have* to make a new category called Cupcake! We have a new kitten and perhaps unsurprisingly, her name is Cupcake. She is 3 months old and we got her from the SPCA (which is awesome!). And, as it turns out, she has really great taste in music…

She’s such a goofy girl. It’s not easy to catch her and most of the day is spent asking, “Have you seen the cat? Is she under the bed or the couch?” But, once you get her, she basically doesn’t understand that she *can* get away and just does whatever you want. Like sit quietly next to you and watch tv.

Chris, a frequent commenter on my site, and quite possibly the only one not related to me, dared me to mail him the Spotted Dick that my cousin Melissa mailed to me. She came across it in the grocery store one day and as the story goes, immediately thought, “Oh my god, I have to buy that and mail it to Jenn!”
The bigger deal is that Chris lives in Germany with his super sweet wife Sabine and extremely cute son, Finn. So, I took his dare and decided to surprise him with not only the Spotted Dick, but the best package ever from some random person he’s never met. So, I threw a bunch of stuff in a box (including lollipops for Finn and some of my favorite music) and sent the package on its way.
And, it came back.
I didn’t feel appropriate cursing the German postal system, but he did a good job of that for me. And, yea, ok, it would’ve helped if I spelled the street name correctly.
So, it sat on my desk for a few months while I ignored it.
Then I mailed it again…
…and my Spotted Dick is now on the other side of the world.

Evren was super thrilled to be playing the part of The Pilgrim in his preschool Thanksgiving program.
Who Doesn’t Love a Carnival?
There’s nothing more beautiful and exciting than when the local carnival rolls into town. It’s the only event that can be put up in a Subway Parking lot and completely erected in the time it takes to order a 6″ sub. It seems like it’s going to be just your ordinary day and then……What?! Is that the Zipper?

The first thing that attracts me to the carnival is the outgoing friendly staff. They’re only here to make sure you have a good time. They have chosen a life of service and despite the fact that the bottom row of cans was glued down, I knew deep inside this guy wanted me to win.

At the doctor’s office the other day…

“Hey Mom! What are these things for?!”
I found these photos on my cell phone. They are from a few months ago when we went to some outdoor event that had a rock climbing wall. Ayla begged to try it out, and it took her like a minute to get to the top. Then she did it like 12 more times.

That’s her in the orange & white volleyball uniform.

With friends we took the little ones to the Sculpture Garden for a field trip and I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. I mean, once I took Evren to a wildlife rescue center where we were super close up to amazing animals like white tigers and lions and he could’ve cared less. He played with the plastic lounge chairs at the yard the entire time. So, sculpture? Eh, all his friends were going, so I took a chance.
And they all loved it! They had their little brochures and went from sculpture to sculpture, asking what the name was, trying to find it on their map, asking questions – it was amazing. And totally worth it.
Here are some highlights…

Took the kids on a weekend road trip a few weeks ago.

31 miles on the odometer of the rental car when I picked it up.

What’s in the bag? We weren’t at our destination 5 minutes before Evren talked me into buying him some souvenirs.

There was a pottery fair going on with a children’s area. A chunk of gray clay and these kids couldn’t be happier. There was literally sobbing when we had to leave this area. I should’ve taken photos of the finished products …true art.

They are playing with a stuffed snake that Evren’s grandpa bought for him, which he immediately fell in love with and named Snakey.
