Shadow

03 Jan

We took care of one of Ayla’s class pets over the holidays.  Shadow the snake.

Shadow the cutest snake ever

He was sent home with a ziploc full of dead mice which we kept in the freezer and we had the honor of feeding him.  Disgusting yet we couldn’t look away.

Head first

When they are already dead they don't put up a fight

That's a mouthful

Choking down the tail was the hardest part

After he ate the mouse he didn’t move for 3 or 4 days.  I got worried and kept bothering him to make sure he was still alive.

Later, after everyone was here visiting for Christmas, Ayla and Evren’s grandpa was done hearing about how we wanted to hold the snake but were too nervous.  Fercrissakes… he took it out of the aquarium for us and we passed it around and that was that, we weren’t scared anymore.

He was such a good snake.  We’ll miss having him around.

I can’t believe you posted those disgusting pictures!
Oh, wait, yeah I can–especially since you were willing to keep dead mice in your freezer. And since you raised a stinky family of mice in your room when in Middle School for a science project.
Of course your kids loved the snake.

Is it time for a new family pet?
