#14 Mom and Me
Our mission:

We cheated (plus we are lazy and we were on our way to the pool) and didn’t dress up. But we picked a more special place that usual. Evren had a Free Kid’s Meal coupon from school and had been wanting to go, so we chose…

Our waiter was Chance and he did a fantastic job for us. We started off with iced tea and root beers and of course…

We had to try something we’ve never tried before and there’s really no surprises on the Olive Garden menu, so that was tricky. We finally decided on the Grilled Chicken Flatbread from the appetizer menu. Not too far out there, I know, but we had never tried it before, so it counts.

Looks really good, right? Well, this is what it really looks like…

Seriously, that’s the same thing. Blech. None of us cared for it. But we did all try it.
We all ordered spaghetti, and it was really good.

And it did pretty much look exactly like that.
Then dessert…

Yum. We were all stuffed when we left so I was thankful we were headed to the pool!!
And then…
- We came home to put our take-home bag in the fridge (b/c it’s approximately 138 degrees outside these days) and I promptly got sick and “lost my lunch”. Not sure what that was all about, but about an hour later I was totally fine, and we went to the pool.
- I apparently left my credit card at the restaurant, and when I called they claimed not to have it. I didn’t go anywhere else, so it has to be there. I had to call the bank, cancel the card, get a new one, etc. Sigh.
- I put our mint chocolates that the nice waiter Chance gave us in my purse and when I was busy being ill, I left my purse in the car. Oh yea, I love melted chocolate all over my keys and lip gloss.
The kids finally made it to the pool and I survived, but overall Ayla gave the restaurant 2 out of 4 stars, and I agree with her.
Ayla’s biggest complaint: The chocolate cake was too creamy.
Reading
The Summer Guest by Justin Cronin

I loved this book, start to finish. It is the perfect lazy day, by the pool, summertime read. It will make you appreciate life just a bit more. A really great story.
S’Mores Keyboard
I wonder if my boss would approve this expense. I think this is the keyboard I need for work.

#14 Just Mom and Me
Ayla got a gift card to Barnes & Noble for her last birthday, and I was so happy when this was one of the books she picked out to buy.

#14 on my 101 list is to complete this book with her and I’ll post all the fun things we do together here. If you have a daughter age 8 – 12, I would highly recommend this book.
At the Movies

Really, really funny. If you are avoiding it because it’s a chick flick, go with your girl, I promise you will laugh out loud. It was the absolutely perfect romantic comedy.
Snake Skin!
Shadow shed his skin! Of course he did it when no one was around. I was breathing a sigh of relief though because for about a week he got really pale and didn’t move hardly at all. I was already formulating how I was going to break the news to Ayla’s teacher that we killed the class pet over summer break. But now he’s fine! Back to his perky self.
