#84 Go To Garage Sales 5 Times – DONE

Love those huge church garage sales.

So much stuff, but when it’s 100 degrees outside, we don’t stay too long.

We spent $11.60 our first time out, and that included 3 nearly new backpacks!

Second time out and we spent $9.30 and got some great stuff.

I hung the small decorations in the kitchen – 25 cents each! I like them.

The frames were for the two posters Ayla had bought at the last school book sale but I wasn’t about to pay 20 bucks to frame them. I paid 3 bucks total for these two frames and finally got those posters out of our way.

$13.00 total for this day out. Scored a docking station and power cable for 4 bucks, and some great clothes for Ayla. Evren just had to have that hat, so I got it thrown in for free at one of the sales.

We could only find one garage sale the weekend before school was to start. I paid $1.00 total for these clothes for Evren. He loves the fuzzy pajamas in winter. (Actually, my mom paid for it because I only had a twenty dollar bill, and then she bought me some cute measuring cups too. Thanks mom!!)

We spent 5 bucks yesterday. Evren threw a tantrum because I wouldn’t pay 3 bucks for a beanie baby. Luckily at the very next stop, they had beanie babies for a dollar. Yea! Evren has also been begging me for a three ring binder forever, so he was excited to find one yesterday too. I scored an entire bag of miscellaneous cards for ONE DOLLAR - it was huge! I ended up keeping only about a tenth of it, but I got lots of thank-you notes, Christmas cards, christmas thank-you notes, note cards, and three Hallmark cards. Totally worth a buck.
Ayla always mumbles and groans when we mention garage sales, but she always manages to find some great deals and seems to enjoy herself once we get out there. She wasn’t happy with me yesterday though when I told her she couldn’t buy a pogo stick. Evren think the entire concept is genius and he’s always ready to go. I think it’ll be a bit more enjoyable when the weather cools down. We’ll definitely continue!

It was sweet but pretty average. Hard to be inspired when there is a lot of money involved, but I liked the actors and I enjoyed it.

It’s a math thriller. And it was fantastic. It’s subtitled, so you have to pay attention, but it’s riveting and fun. The first few minutes of the movie are about Prime Numbers, which Ayla is working on in school right now, so I made her watch the movie with me. She probably won’t admit it, but I think she mildly enjoyed it also. I told her she can tell her teacher her mom forced her to watch a movie about math.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett

This is a 5 stars out of 5 stars book. It is beautiful, and funny, and important. Everyone should read this book, and I honestly don’t think anyone will dislike it. Please try to find a way to read it, or at least get on the list to get it from the library. (I can guarantee there is no copy available at your library, so get on the list now.) By the time your turn comes up you probably would’ve forgotten about it and it will be a wonderful surprise for you. READ IT.
A big thank you to my mom for giving this to me as a birthday present. I devoured it.
Ok, C – I promise I am reading Into The Wild next, I mean it this time!
