Baking: Halloween Poke Cake

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER …this cake was good!  The kids were mighty skeptical.  First, I couldn’t even FIND marble cake mix, do they even make it anymore??  Too old school?  Ayla and I were creative though and with some cocoa made our own half n half batter.  Then, Evren wasn’t having it after he saw me pour jell-o over the cake – oh the crime to humanity jell-o does not belong in a cake!  Okay, I admit I wasn’t sure either when the jell-o didn’t seem to be going in the holes but rather just soaking into the entire thing.  The frosting is not as dark as the photo but goodness it was yummy so we were hopeful at that point.  And after we cut into it?  It looks just like the photo all swirly and very, very moist.  We even got the little pumpkins to put on top.  I’m not sure I can convince Evren to even try it but whatever, more for us.  HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
