Reading: The 7 Habits of HIghly Effective People

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey

Conclusion: I am Highly Ineffective.  Guess: Mr. Stephen Covey has never been a single working mom.  Kudos do go out to Mr. Covey for raising the most perfect children ever.

Sarcasm aside, I can certainly see how this book is a best seller.  It’s definitely a book I will keep and try to read as I move through different phases of my life or at least use as a reference.  Truly a book that everyone can gain something from.

(Thanks Rick!)

I had never seen this movie.  Pretty clever.  Highly recommend if you are in the mood for a monster movie.

Cello Wars

Evren shared this video with me today because he loves it…and I love anything that gets an 8-year old to appreciate music.  I have to agree with him, it’s pretty awesome.

Blue Diary by Alice Hoffman

Enjoyable mystery-drama.  Really made me think about what a truly unforgivable act might be.

Cooking: Lentil Stew with Sausage and Potatoes

Lentil Stew with Sausage and Potatoes (Real Simple)

Exotic and tasty.  Evren was surprised he liked it because “it didn’t look that great.”

Ingredients

4 tablespoons olive oil
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 teaspoon curry powder
4 cups low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
1 bay leaf
2 cups brown lentils, picked over and rinsed
10 small red-skinned potatoes, quartered
1/2 pound turkey kielbasa, diced
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 small bunch arugula or watercress, tough stems removed; coarsely chopped
kosher salt and black pepper
1/2 cup crumbled Feta cheese

Directions

Heat 2 tablespoons of the oil in a large, heavy saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and curry powder and cook, stirring, until the garlic is fragrant. Add the broth, bay leaf, and lentils and bring to a boil. Lower heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.

Add the potatoes, cover, and cook until the potatoes and lentils are tender but not mushy, about 10 to 15 minutes. Meanwhile, place the kielbasa in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Brown on both sides. Set aside and keep warm.

When the stew is cooked, stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons oil, lemon juice, arugula, and ¼ teaspoon each salt and pepper. Divide the stew among bowls and top each with the kielbasa and Feta.

Listening: Lady Antebellum

Lady Antebellum (2008)

Just for fun and on a whim.  I listened to the cd in the car until I got sick of it.

Watching: I Don’t Know How She Does It

I Don’t Know How She Does It (2011)

Well, I figured it out.  I know how she does it.  She has a nanny at home, a husband, and an assistant at work.

Oh, I don’t think that was an actual question.
