Ayla came home with a poster today that she created.
Bold = already on the poster
Italics = what Ayla filled in the blanks using her own words
If I could save this year in a bottle, I would fill it with many second grade memories.
The most important thing I learned this year was math. I like math because last year I only knew a few number sentences. Now I’ve really improved.
An area of improvement this year was writing. Right now I am writing. I’ve improved by doing what I need to do, listening and writing.
The funniest thing that happened this year was when someone burped while I was talking.
The best project we did was make egg drop soup. We got to eat it. We also learned about the three states of matter.
My favorite subject was math. I like math cause you can figure it out.
Five words that describe this year are
Funky Fun Great Crazy Fantastic

2nd Grade
This painting is amazing. She DREW this picture with a pencil, traced over it with a thin black marker and then painted it with watercolors. I’m considering framing it - it really is beautiful.

It’s the end of the school year. Not excited.
Ayla has been bringing her work home from school by the truckload (ok, I exaggerate, it’s actually by the wheelbarrow) this past week. I’m going through it and picking out the gems to record here for all eternity so in the coming days/weeks you might see a lot of her stuff posted here. She has a new category all her own labeled ‘Ayla’s Portfolio’. She’s pretty funny and as it turns out, she’s not a bad artist.
Admittedly, this category is mostly for Grandma.
Update: If her projects are dated, I’m going to insert them into the blog with the correct date stamp, so if you want to see all of them, you’ll have to click on the Ayla’s Portfolio category link on the right hand side here. And due to my obsessive nature, I’m sure I’ll finish posting all of her stuff today.

Mister Gold
It was a sunny day when suddenly I heard some whispering from the boliaun and it was two beeeauuutiful fairies. They were having a tea party. Then I saw a leprachaun. I was thrilled! I quickly picked him up and said where’s the gold stubby! He said his name was Mister Gold. I said that was a good name for him. Actually I like your tie, red vest and your shoes. I said he can go and I sat him down, and ran home to make a trap. I got tissue paper from my create’n make kit. Then I got my dog cage from my back yard, and set up a trap. My trap was in the park. But he didn’t come so I limped home.

People Who Listen
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to not have safety rules? I can imagine it right now, can you? The cafe would have food all over the floor. The books in the library would be scattered. The gym would have balls, parachutes and all kinds of toys on the floor. I think always stick with your buddy, Never stand on a swivel chair, and never try risky tricks on the playground are good safety rules.
One of the most important rules are always stick with your buddy. I think that rule is important because you will always know where the other person is.
Never stand on a swivel chair if you do you might get hurt very badly and you may brake one of your bones. Then you might have to get surgery and trust me it will hurt.
Another good safety rule is to never try risky tricks. It can cost you your life. For example if you were on top of the monkey bars.

Note: Ayla’s teacher said she was very touched by this story that Ayla wrote. The assignment was to write a story about the greatest gift you received and most of the children wrote about their favorite toy.
LOVE
One day I was having a snowball fight. I was very wiped out. Then I decided to build a snowfort. It was exasting. I wanted to build a snowman. But it melted. It was chilly. So I made way for home.
It’s Christmas! I shouted. I couldn’t wait to open all the presents. They were wonderful! I just startd to open presents. I got a locket, purse, 10$, ATM machine and a new puppy! Her name was Snickers. There was one more present. I bent down but I didn’t see anything. Mom gave me a big kiss. Then I realized that love is the most important gift.

Unique means special.
In my way unique means good.
In my way it means odd.
I am unique because I am diffrent.
