Evren – Star Student
EVREN
Noah told us that Evren is a fast runner. Colton said that he’s a nice friend to have because he plays with him almost every day. Sydney has noticed that Evren is on time to school each morning. Zane observed how much Evren enjoyed the book fair. Alex F. described him as funny. Hailey enjoys having him as a classmate. Melody reminded us of how helpful Evren can be when someone is hurt. Kevin has noticed what a good reader he is. Isidora told us that when he’s trying to be careful, Evren doesn’t bump into anyone. Hannah V. described him as helpful. Jayant has noticed that Evren has a lot of friends. Sophia likes his crazy, curly hair! Hannah T. thinks that he is handsome. Reagan enjoys how Evren always seems to get his work done on time. Kyle has observed that he is very intelligent, especially in math. Alex S. also described him as smart. Sabriena reminded us that Evren is almost never absent. Poojan has observed Evren to be a fast runner. Grace reminded us again of what a good reader he is. Vincent enjoys all of the fun and fashionable outfits Evren wears to school. Megan thinks he’s a good friend because he plays with others nicely. Finally, Ms. Nixon chose Evren to be the star student because he is quirky, imaginative, and has really shown a lot of growth this year. She is especially proud of his improvement in handwriting.
Open House
Finally the kids get to show me all the cool stuff they’ve been doing at school this year.
Ayla with her artwork they did in art class that was hanging in the cafeteria.
Evren’s “My Pet” essay. I’m not sure what it says exactly… but it’s about the pet snake we got to babysit several times. We have a dog, 2 cats and 2 fish of our own but he told me at the last minute he needed a photo and this is the only photo I could find on such short notice.
Evren in his class with his autobiography.
Evren’s essay on “The Best Meal You Ever Ate.” My favorite food is Turkish Tost. It is good. It has pepperoni and yellow cheese. I like to eat it for dinner.

Pretty obvious this is Abraham Lincoln – as drawn by Evren
Ayla had to do a project on a brain disorder and she picked Multiple Personality Disorder. Her teacher said no one had ever picked that one before!
Ayla had to do a class project on a famous person and she picked Margaret Bourke White, a photojournalist.
She had to write a report and a speech and dress like her at open house, then she had to give her speech to everyone. She did really, really well – I was so proud of her! (I didn’t help her AT ALL.) She made a final grade of 99 on her project.

Open House
The new school year starts Monday and I haven’t posted some pics from last year!! These are photos from the Open House at the end of the last school year when Ayla was in 4th grade and Evren was in Kindergarten. My apologies for the sorry photos, I forgot my camera.

Free Fun
Build n Grow at Lowe’s again this past Saturday. Ayla ditched us for a sleepover so it was just Evren and I hanging out that morning. He built a Tabletop Basketball game. And didn’t take those goggles off for the next 24 hours.

For every craft you complete they give you a patch for your apron, so when we got home I pulled out my sewing kit and sewed the patch on his apron. Never has he apparently seen something so fascinating as he declared “MOM! I DIDN’T KNOW YOU COULD SEW!!” and then made his sister come in and look at this amazing phenomena also. Shock and awe. Then Evren said he wanted a sewing kit for his birthday.
Free Fun
What mom doesn’t love the word FREE? We’ve been to the Home Depot Saturday kid’s craft morning before a few times, and this weekend we finally made it to the one at Lowe’s. They were building a race car and I didn’t want Evren to miss out.

Fun!
Family Art Day
Yesterday they had Art Day at the kids’ school, and it was crazy, to say the least. Here are the pics I took with my phone at the event. I wish I had more of Ayla but she ran off with her friend, and it was just Evren and I hanging out most of the time.
